“Great group environment and welcoming teachers.”
“Lovely, encouraging and communicative teachers (especially Nate). Would highly recommend”
“Learning a new instrument can sometimes be daunting, however, Sharon & her team at Sharon Davis Music have made it such a pleasant experience.”
“Sharon is an excellent performer and goes the distance to be involved and help make any event or project the best it can be.
She has an excellent (and very clever) teaching set up that allows for quality and effective in person or remote learning that allows each student to participate as a group as well as being able to give the crucial one on one teaching in the same session.”
“The Practice Videos are a lifesaver. I sometimes travel for work so I can’t make every class, but I know I can still participate.”
“I am completely new to the piano. I play no other instruments, but I love music. I discovered Sharon’s adult classes supervising my 6 year old. It has been fantastic. I am playing interesting tunes, learning heaps, and having fun. Sharon is an excellent teacher, and it is very efficient. Highly recommended!

What are Adult Beginner Group classes like?

Adult Beginner Group Piano ClassGroup lessons are a sociable, fun way to learn in a supportive environment.

Classes include learning your way around the keyboard, hand shape, finger numbers, rhythms, notes, clefs, staves, teacher demonstrations of the songs, melody, harmony, intervals (the distance between notes) and games. There’s a camera over the teachers hands so you can see everything they play on the big screen. You’ll get to try your hand and improvising and at composition. This isn’t the dry learning style you might remember if you learnt as a child.  Group classes are fun and encouraging!

You’ll get a chance to do independent practice. The teacher will come around and check in on each student’s progress and make sure you are doing the appropriate difficulty level.

We’re so confident you’ll love your class, we offer a Risk Free Guarantee. More info here.

“I checked out the reviews before I started, and they were really good. The classes did not disappoint! “
“The interaction between students and teacher is great. He’s really knowledgeable and I get to
    learn piano from the basics.”
“Can recommend it! I did some basic music stuff at school but have never had a piano lesson before. Sharon makes it interesting and relaxed but even after 3 x 45 minute group lessons I feel I’ve learned a lot! Our piano that’s been sitting idle is getting some use!”
“It’s a really good experience where the teacher goes with everyone’s speed in learning piano.”

I have a keyboard, but not a piano. Can I still join? Yes! As long as it’s of reasonable quality (ie not a toy.) There’s more info in what to look for in a keyboard in our short explainer video here.
    I don’t have a piano or keyboard.
    Can you help?
Yes! We have a digital piano option to help you avoid the “analysis paralysis” of choosing. Contact us for more details, or ORDER HERE to rent or buy. If you’re after an acoustic piano, hooray! We’ll put you in touch with stores who will look after you.
It’s a long time since my piano was tuned. Will it be out of tune? What can I do about it?Yes, it’s probably out of tune by now. Depending on the instrument, and factors such as room humidity and temperature, pianos should be tuned about once a year. It might sound reasonably in tune with itself, but perhaps be tuned lower than the standard tuning. This might bother you when playing along with the Practice Videos at home and your piano sounds different when you play the same notes.

But is that a reason not to start lessons? Absolutely not! The more you love playing, the more likely you’ll be motivated to get your piano tuned when you can. Then you’ll love playing it even more. Wins all ’round!  Contact us for tuner recommendations.
I’m nervous! That’s not so much a question, but you can be confident we’ll help you feel at home playing piano! Our classes are a “safe space“. You’ll NEVER be made to feel uncomfortable about playing a wrong note or making a mistake. Our teachers take pride in using those moments to help understand what we need to explain better, or how to provide more support.
